The foreign trade turnover of the Chinese city of Sanya in January - June 2022 increased by 21.8%

The volume of foreign trade turnover of the city of Sanya in the southern Chinese province of Hainan in January - June of this year amounted to 12.08 billion yuan ($ 1.8 billion), which is 21.8% higher than the figure for the same period in 2021.

Thus, the volume of foreign trade of Sanya amounted to 13.2% of the total corresponding indicator of the entire province for the specified period. In the first half of the year, the city ranked third in the province in terms of foreign trade turnover.
Imports in January- June increased by 19.4% year-on-year and reached 11.28 billion yuan ($1.6 billion). As for exports, it increased by 70.2%, to 800 million yuan ($119.4 million).
The key foreign trade partner of the city in the first half of the year were the EU countries. The volume of trade with them in Sanya increased by 20.4%, to 5.67 billion yuan ($856.2 million). The second place was taken by Japan with a trade volume of 1.09 billion yuan ($162.6 million) - an increase of 66.1% in annual terms. In the third position, the United States, the volume of trade with which Sanya increased by 151.5% and reached 930 million yuan ($ 138.8 million).
In January - June, the city of Sanya also traded with the participating countries of the Comprehensive Regional Economic Partnership (The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, RCEP). The total volume of foreign trade turnover with them amounted to 1.51 billion yuan ($225.3 million). However, in the first half of the year there was a decline in this indicator by 25.6%.
Customs data indicate that the volume of foreign trade of the city's state-owned enterprises amounted to 10.67 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) - an increase of 30.2%. In the first half of the year, private companies experienced a decline of 18.3%, to 1.39 billion yuan ($207.4 million). As for trading companies with foreign capital, their foreign trade turnover in the first six months of the year amounted to 12.22 million yuan ($1.8 million) - an increase of 36.7%.
