China has no plans to resume passenger traffic through land checkpoints

4 copyThe Chinese authorities are not ready to resume passenger traffic with Russia through land borders.

This is stated in the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. She noted that Russia understands the position of China, whose sanitary measures do not allow the resumption of passenger traffic.
"The Operational Headquarters for the Prevention of the importation and spread of a new coronavirus infection in the territory of the Russian Federation, based on assessments of the epidemiological situation in Russia and abroad, announced a decision to lift restrictions on the departure of Russians to China from April 9, as well as on the entry of foreign citizens and stateless persons from China to Russia through checkpoints on the border of Russia and China. At the same time, the Chinese side continues to take measures to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection, so far not allowing passenger traffic to resume through checkpoints on the border with our country. We understand the position of the Chinese partners, we are ready for a full-scale restoration of the functioning of border crossings as the threats of the COVID-19 pandemic weaken," Maria Zakharova said.
She added that the relevant departments of the two countries are in constant contact on increasing the dynamics and volume of cross-border cargo transportation.
