Ground checkpoints on the Russian-Chinese border currently continue to operate only in the cargo direction. This is stated in a statement published on Tuesday by the Consulate General of Russia in Harbin (Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China).
"On the issue of opening passenger traffic at ground checkpoints on the Russian-Chinese border. We proceed from the fact that today all border crossings work only in the cargo direction," the message says.
As stated in the statement, "in order to resume passenger traffic, it is necessary to cancel previously adopted anti-epidemic restrictions in both Russia and China."
As journalists were told on Monday at the operational headquarters for combating coronavirus infection, Russia has been lifting restrictions on the departure of Russians to China through the land border since April 9, as well as on the entry of foreign citizens from China to the Russian Federation.
At the beginning of April 2020, against the background of a difficult epidemic situation, the Chinese authorities decided to close all passenger checkpoints on the land border of the Russian Federation and China
