China called the events in Kazakhstan an internal matter of this country.This was stated at a briefing on Thursday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin, RIA Novosti reports.
"The Chinese side believes that what is happening in Kazakhstan is an internal matter of the country. We are confident that the authorities will be able to properly solve the problem," the diplomat stressed.
He also recalled that China and Kazakhstan are neighbors and strategic partners, with traditionally friendly relations between them.
Wang Wenbin expressed hope that "the situation will stabilize as soon as possible and public order will be restored."
The representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry did not comment on the dispatch of the CSTO peacekeeping contingent to Kazakhstan, repeating that Beijing hopes for an early normalization of the situation in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported on the support of the authorities of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for the efforts of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to restore public order in the country.
