The Chinese side called on the European Union to objectively assess the development of the Chinese economy and abandon protectionist measures. The corresponding statement was made by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian.
According to him, in relations with Beijing, European countries should avoid "zero-sum thinking" and adhere to a pragmatic approach. China stressed its readiness to act not only as a global manufacturing center, but also as a major market for foreign partners.
Beijing also noted that they expect to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU in the framework of the upcoming 15th five-year plan. According to the Chinese side, trade with Europe increased by 5.4% in 2025 and exceeded $828 billion, while the increase in US duties did not lead to a significant redistribution of Chinese exports to Europe.
