Beijing intends to protect its interests after the introduction of US duties

Beijing may change its retaliatory measures in connection with the introduction of 10 percent tariffs by the United States, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stressed.

China is closely monitoring the situation and will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the new US duties on products from other countries. The ministry stressed that all changes will be aimed at protecting China's legitimate interests, and a decision on the adjustment of measures will be made "in due course."

The ministry noted that the confrontation with the United States causes mutual damage, and Beijing stands for equal cooperation. China is ready to consult with the American side during the sixth round of trade and economic negotiations to resolve differences and ensure the stable development of bilateral trade.

Earlier, the US Supreme Court declared illegal the previous tariffs on a number of goods, after which Washington imposed global 10% duties that took effect on February 24. China says it will continue to insist on waiving unilateral duties in the future.
