China is one of the priority partners of the Russian Ministry of Sports, Director of the Department of Education, Science and International Relations of the Ministry of Sports Alina Stebneva said at a press conference dedicated to the International Russian-Chinese Winter Sports Festival.
According to Stebneva, regular exchanges and meetings between the sports leaders of Russia and China strengthen cooperation and demonstrate the principles of equality and mutual respect between the regions of both countries. The Amur Festival, according to her, is a prime example of such good neighborliness.
The history of the festival began in 2017 with the Sodruzhestvo hockey tournament and has since expanded to include a winter rally on ice and winter swimming. In 2025, more than 200 athletes from Russia and China took part in the competition, and this year the festival will be held from February 28 to March 1.
