The number of tourists from China who visited the Altai Territory in 2025 increased 1.5 times compared to the previous year and exceeded 6 thousand for the first time. This was stated by Alexander Baryshnikov, head of the regional department for the development of tourism and resort activities.
According to him, the Altai Territory receives about 2 million travelers annually, while the regional authorities pay special attention to the development of inbound tourism. In 2025, it is planned to implement a separate program to promote tourism services in the Chinese market, which is already reflected in the growing number of visitors from China. There is also an increase in the tourist flow from India.
Earlier it was reported that the Altai Territory has developed several tourist routes aimed at travelers from China, which are scheduled to launch in 2026. Among them are the seven—day tour "Altai Therapy: happiness across the edge", the interregional route "Great Altai: in search of Tao" and the project "Green Route: Baikal - Altai", covering facilities in the Irkutsk region and the Altai Territory.
