In January–October, China significantly increased imports of pipeline gas from Russia. According to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, shipments from Russia increased by 17.8% and amounted to $7.85 billion, which once again makes Russia the leader among exporters of this energy carrier to China.
Russia is followed by Turkmenistan, Myanmar, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the supplier ranking, but their performance is noticeably lower than that of Russia. At the same time, in October, Russian gas imports in value terms decreased by about 30% compared to September, to $560.89 million.
Last year, China purchased pipeline gas worth $21.1 billion, an increase of 8.6%. Russian supplies increased especially significantly — by 25%. Against the background of Vladimir Putin's visit to China, Moscow and Beijing agreed on new annual supplies of 106 billion cubic meters.
