Expert Jin Cangrong: The United States may abandon Taiwan after the transfer of TSMC to the United States

According to an expert from the People's University of China, Taiwan's value to the United States will decrease after chip manufacturer TSMC deploys facilities on American territory.

Taiwan risks losing its strategic importance to the United States after the transfer of TSMC's production facilities to the United States. This was stated by Jin Cangrong, deputy director of the Institute of International Studies at the People's University of China, stressing that the chips themselves are more important to Americans than the island.

According to the expert, the United States, not having its own advanced chip manufacturing technologies, is actively using TSMC's capabilities. Jin Cangrong noted that Taiwan should not rely on Washington, since the American authorities can change policy at any time, and the power of mainland China significantly exceeds the island's capabilities.

The expert also stressed that the influence of other countries on the Taiwan issue is limited. Japan, India and the Philippines do not have an independent military force and only indirectly influence the situation, while the United States remains a key player determining the balance of power in the region.
