China has broken its own record for the number of space launches, having conducted two successful launches in one night. According to SpaceNews, citing data from CASC and CAS Space corporations, the total number of launches since the beginning of 2025 has reached 70, which has become a new national record.
The Changzheng-11 rocket was the first to be launched from an offshore platform off the coast of Shandong Province. It has launched three Shiyan-32 satellites into orbit to test new technologies. A few hours later, the Kinetica-1 commercial rocket launched from the Jiuquan cosmodrome, delivering two Chutian-2 experimental satellites into orbit.
Analysts note that the increase in the number of launches is due to the development of the commercial sector and the active deployment of satellite groups. Of the 70 missions this year, 51 were conducted by the state—owned CASC corporation, and another 19 by private companies. Against the background of China's success in space, concern is growing in the United States about a possible lag in the "moon race."
