Even with the Trump administration's individual achievements in negotiations with China, such as the postponement of restrictions on exports of rare earths and the settlement of TikTok's status in the United States, Beijing retains the advantage. China uses this to advance its agenda in international institutions and gain influence in key sectors, including renewable energy and the production of electric vehicles.
Analysts and representatives of the American administration emphasize that China is effectively exploiting the instability of Trump's policy. As noted by Joe Biden's administration official Rash Doshi, China may not be winning the argument, but it is winning the game by strengthening its position on the world stage.
