The Sanya Yacht Cluster on Hainan Island has seen a three-fold increase in the number of new companies in the first nine months of 2025. According to the Sanya Daily newspaper, in January–September, 25 more enterprises operating in the field of yachting and marine tourism were registered in the city.
Experts attribute the rapid development of the sector to the advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port, from reducing duties to simplifying cross—border settlements. According to Meng Xiangrui, the head of Hainan Atlantis Yacht Club, thanks to these measures, the business is able to significantly reduce the cost of importing yachts and components, as well as save millions of yuan on operating costs.
Sanya's infrastructure is also being actively improved: the central business district of the city is equipped with marinas for superyachts up to 52 meters long and hundreds of berths. As international partners are attracted, new formats of seaside holidays are being created. Experts believe that Hainan's upcoming transition to a new model of customs control will be an additional incentive for the growth of the region's yachting industry.
