The Chinese high-speed train of the new generation CR450 reached a speed of 453 kilometers per hour during the tests, CCTV reported. The tests are taking place on the Shanghai— Chongqing—Chengdu line, and the train will begin regular passenger operations after completing a test run of 600,000 kilometers.
According to the developers, the engineers have significantly improved the aerodynamics of the train: it is now able to accelerate from zero to 350 kilometers per hour in just 4 minutes and 40 seconds. In addition to high speed, the CR450 has technologies that provide smoother braking, cornering stability, and improved safety control.
The CR450 prototype was first unveiled in China in December 2024. It is expected that its implementation will reduce the travel time between the largest cities and increase the efficiency of rail transportation. The developers emphasize that the new train will not only be faster, but also more comfortable and energy efficient than its predecessors.
