According to Gao Zhiqai, vice president of the China and Globalization Analytical Center, China's technological independence in the field of semiconductors will inevitably lead to an expansion of exports and a structural restructuring of the global industry. He believes that as a result, a significant part of manufacturers from the USA, Japan and Taiwan will lose their positions in the global market.
The expert stressed that Washington's policy of restricting Beijing's access to modern microchips only accelerates China's transition to independence. According to his estimates, within three to five years the country will be able to completely replace imports with its own developments. This will be a response to sanctions and pressure attempts by the United States and its allies.
Gao Zhikai also noted that the US administration prohibits the supply of high-performance processors to China, and leading companies such as Nvidia are forced to create simplified models for the Chinese market. However, Beijing is focused on a long-term strategy and relies on the development of its own technologies, while expanding trade relations with Russia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
