Крупным

The Russian government has approved a draft agreement with Beijing on the creation of a new unit in the structure of the Consulate General in Harbin.

The Russian Cabinet of Ministers has supported the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to open a branch of the Russian trade mission in Harbin, China. The document was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the materials prepared for the exchange of notes between the governments of the two countries. The new step underscores Moscow's intention to expand economic cooperation with China.

According to the draft, the office will work as part of the Russian Consulate General in Harbin and represent Moscow's interests in matters of trade and economic cooperation within the consular district. The staff of the unit, as well as its premises and archives, will receive the same privileges and immunities as the staff of the Consulate General. The department is planned to be involved in supporting bilateral investment and infrastructure projects.

The final decision will be made after confirmation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The Agreement will enter into force on the date of receipt of the reply note and will be valid indefinitely, with the possibility of termination upon notification by one of the parties six months in advance. Experts believe that the opening of the new division will enhance cooperation between the regions of Russia and northeast China.
