According to the organization's report, the supply of solar panels and wind turbines from China has reduced carbon emissions by about 1% in 2024. If the trend continues, global demand for fossil fuels may begin to decline by 2030, which will be an important step towards global decarbonization.
The report pays special attention to the accessibility of Chinese technologies for developing countries. Currently, China accounts for about 80% of global production of solar panels and 60% of wind turbines, which makes it possible to accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources even with limited resources.
At the same time, in China itself, over the period from 2015 to 2023, the consumption of hydrocarbons in industry, transport and utilities decreased by 1.7%. The share of electricity in the country's final energy consumption has reached 32%, which is already higher than in the United States and several European OECD countries, the study emphasizes.
