In her welcoming address, Olga Lyubimova, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, noted that cooperation in the cultural sphere is a solid foundation of bilateral relations. Of particular importance in this process, according to her, is the activity of libraries, which contributes to the development of humanitarian cooperation and the expansion of intercultural dialogue between the peoples of Russia and China.
The main theme of the forum in 2025 is "Preservation and restoration of cultural heritage: the best practices of the two countries." The event takes place within the framework of the Years of culture of Russia and China and is included in the roadmap for humanitarian cooperation until 2030. The program includes a discussion of topical issues of librarianship, an exchange of experience and a presentation of joint projects aimed at preserving unique handwritten and printed collections.
Two key agreements were signed during the forum: on photocopying of manuscripts between the Russian State Library and the National Library of China, as well as on cooperation between the Far Eastern State Scientific Library and the Metropolitan Library of China. The guests were also invited to attend thematic sessions, the exhibition "Preserving the priceless" and master classes on traditional techniques of working with books and paper.
