China has created a system for the rapid detection of dangerous mosquitoes

Комары

China has developed a smart system that makes it four times more efficient to detect mosquitoes that carry dangerous diseases.

Specialists from the Southern Medical University in Guangdong Province presented a technology that is significantly superior to traditional methods using traps and mosquito nets. The system combines human-mimicking baits to detect hungry insects and miniature containers of water to attract females ready to lay eggs.

The development uses cloud technologies that provide instant notification of an increase in the number of insects. According to the head of the project, Chen Xiaoguang, this makes it possible to quickly respond to threats and significantly speeds up disease prevention. The system is connected to databases of sanitary services, which allows you to track changes in the number of insects and quickly form recommendations for local authorities.

The system is currently being tested in the city of Foshan, where chikungunya fever was detected in July. The innovation has already helped accelerate measures to combat its spread and improve monitoring of the mosquito population. The developers plan to expand the use of the technology to other provinces at risk of tropical infections.
