According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, in January–July 2025, 261 thousand Russian citizens visited the Chinese island of Hainan, which is twice as much as in the same period last year. In seven months, Hainan received 762,000 foreign tourists, while Russians turned out to be the largest group among them. The association emphasizes that interest in the direction continues to grow.
According to the representative of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Song Shi province, about 500 thousand tourists from Russia are expected by the end of the year. This is almost 200,000 more than the previous record in 2019, when Hainan received 330,000 Russians. According to him, the Chinese side is ready to maintain a high level of service and expand cultural exchanges.
ATOR notes that Hainan is actively developing its tourist infrastructure and is already ready to receive a large flow of guests. Tour operators call the island the fastest growing destination in Asia and predict high positions for it among the winter tourist routes of Russians. Experts attribute this to convenient logistics, direct flights and loyal visa conditions.
