Scientific and technical cooperation between China and Russia is becoming particularly important in the context of protectionism and unilateral sanctions, said Liu Xu, deputy director of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the People's University of China. According to him, the United States and its allies are trying to rebuild global production and scientific chains, which threatens the development of high technologies in China and the Russian Federation.
The expert stressed that Sino-Russian cooperation in the field of technology is becoming especially relevant against the background of large-scale restrictions imposed against Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine. China, which has made progress in AI and digital manufacturing, and Russia, which has strong positions in defense and Internet technologies, can effectively complement each other.
According to Liu Xu, the two countries have the potential to deepen their partnership not only in traditional areas such as astronautics and telecom, but also in new areas such as green technologies, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. He stressed that the situation in the world only increases the need for such an alliance.
