During the 29th meeting of the subcommittee on cooperation in the field of transport of the Russian-Chinese Commission, held in Tianjin on June 30 – July 1, the parties announced their intention to expand the range of goods crossing the border. The delegations led by Dmitry Zverev, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, and his Chinese counterpart Li Yang expressed their willingness to strengthen work in all areas of transport cooperation.
Special attention was paid to the prospects of introducing unmanned transport technologies and digitalization of logistics. Both sides stressed the need to develop paperless document management and coordinated approaches to the modernization of checkpoints. There was also an increase in freight and passenger traffic, as well as effective cooperation between transport agencies to expand quotas for international road transport.
Following the meeting, representatives of Russia and China positively assessed the work of the relevant working groups and confirmed their intention to develop intermodal routes, including the river-sea transport corridor between Northeast China and the Far East. The next meeting of the sub-commission is tentatively scheduled for April 2026 in St. Petersburg, within the framework of the International Transport and Logistics Forum.
