The refusal of the United States to cooperate with China in the field of renewable energy will damage the United States itself in the first place. This was stated by Zhang Weiwei, Dean of the Institute of Chinese Studies at Fudan University, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. According to him, China today holds a leading position in the production and development of technologies related to solar, wind energy and electric vehicles.
"By rejecting advanced Chinese solutions, the United States is actually abandoning the most powerful productive force in this area," Zhang said. He stressed that in the long term, such a policy could lead to the formation of a global green economy without the participation of the United States, which would only strengthen the positions of other countries.
The expert also pointed to China's active role in international cooperation in the field of sustainable development. He recalled such initiatives as the Green Belt and Road and cooperation within the framework of the BRICS. In addition, Zhang noted the successful projects of Beijing and Moscow to achieve carbon neutrality, including the development of port infrastructure.
