The city of Sanya, located in the southern province of Hainan, was previously considered a place for leisurely leisure for middle-aged and elderly tourists. However, the situation has changed dramatically in recent years: according to CCTV Finance, in 2025 Sanya took a leading position among the most attractive tourist destinations for young people at the district level. In the first quarter of this year alone, the share of tourists aged 18 to 35 reached 31.8%, and in February-March it was already 36.3%.
The influx of young people is not only due to the mild climate and picturesque beaches. Sanya offers a rich program of outdoor activities: skydiving, boat trips, and water activities. In 2024, the local parachutist base hosted more than 10,000 people, and marine yacht tours exceeded 127 thousand exits in just one year.
The city is also known for its vibrant nightlife, cultural festivals and the ability to combine beach relaxation and active recreation. The authorities of Hainan plan to turn the island into an international tourism center, and Sanya is confidently moving towards this status, responding to the modern demands of the youth audience.
