This was announced by Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, at the Russian-Chinese forum in Khabarovsk. He stressed that the Chinese have become leaders in the number of arrivals to the country — more than a million tourists from China visited Russia in 2024. The Far East has become a particularly popular destination, where tourists come both individually and as part of organized groups.
Since August last year, a single electronic visa has been available to Chinese citizens, which has significantly simplified the entry procedure. This measure has become part of a systematic policy to attract travelers and develop international tourism. Combined with the visa-free exchange for group trips between Russia and China, the total tourist flow between the two countries has exceeded one million people since the beginning of 2024.
The Khabarovsk Forum is being held on May 19-20 under the slogan "Bolshoy Ussuriysky: cooperation in the joint development of the island." The event is attended by over three thousand representatives of business, government and the expert community. The program covers key areas of cooperation between the two countries, from tourism and trade to ecology and industrial cooperation.
