There has been an increase in the incidence of coronavirus in Asia, with the largest spike observed in Hong Kong and Singapore.

According to Bloomberg, a new rise in the incidence of COVID-19 is observed in Asian countries, especially in Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, and Singapore. In both cases, local authorities have recorded a sharp increase in the number of infected people and are urging the population to vaccinate and take additional precautions.

Hong Kong has the highest incidence rate since April 2024. Ou Jiarong, head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the Center for Health Protection, said that the number of hospitalizations is increasing, as well as the concentration of the virus in wastewater is increasing, indicating a large-scale spread of infection.

Singapore, in turn, is strengthening its response measures: after a year-long hiatus, the Ministry of Health has once again begun publishing regular statistics on COVID-19. From April 27 to May 3, the number of infections in the country increased by 28% and hospitalizations by 30%. The public is advised to wear masks in crowded places and be especially attentive to the symptoms.
