During two evenings, the St. Petersburg audience will be able to watch the play "Wing Chun: the Legend of the Master of Kung Fu", presented by the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theater. The production combines elements of choreography and kung fu, allowing the audience to touch the cultural strata of China at the end of the 20th century. The artists will perform on the New Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, which became possible as part of the cross-cultural year of Russia and China.
According to the organizers, the performances of the Chinese troupe strengthen cultural ties between the two countries. The visually intense drama tells the story of a martial artist, and stage fights are harmoniously intertwined with the expressive plasticity of dance, creating a vivid theatrical spectacle filled with national flavor.
The Shenzhen Theater was founded in 2018 and brought together opera and dance troupes, as well as a choir — a total of 140 artists. During this time, the band has performed at major cultural events in China, including the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics. The tour in Russia will end after three performances in St. Petersburg. Before that, the artists performed in Moscow on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater.
