As reported on Monday by the Central Television of China, this was announced following the results of the talks held by video link between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, TASS reports.
The heads of state issued a joint statement and announced the extension of the Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, the TV notes.
Xi Jinping said that China and Russia will confidently move forward, no matter how many difficulties and pitfalls they will have on the way.
"The close cooperation between China and Russia gives positive energy to the world community, creating a benchmark for a new model of international relations. The Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation established the concept of a friendship passed down from generation to generation that meets the fundamental interests of both countries. This corresponds to the trends of the era aimed at peace and development, and is also a practical and living example of creating a new type of international relations and a community with a common destiny," said Chinese President Xi Jinping.
It should be noted that the Russian-Chinese Treaty on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Jiang Zemin. Its validity period was 20 years.
