A car rally dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War went from Vladivostok to Dalian, China. The route is more than 2,000 kilometers long and runs through the cities of China, which commemorate the memory of Soviet soldiers who died in those years on the territory of China. The participants of the race will pay tribute to the memory of the fallen.
The ceremonial start of the race was given on the central square of Vladivostok at the stele "City of Military Glory". Representatives of the city administration, veterans' organizations and youth associations are taking part in the humanitarian mission. Commemorative ceremonies with flower-laying at memorials and mass graves will be held throughout the route in the cities.
The rally covers the key cities of northeast China - Changchun, Shenyang and Dalian. It will end at the Port Arthur naval Base, a historic site liberated by Soviet troops in August 1945 during the Manchurian operation. Then the Red Army inflicted a crushing defeat on the Kwantung Army in three weeks, putting an end to the Japanese occupation in the region.
