The operation was carried out using the Stereotaxis, the only robotic system in the Russian Federation.

Chinese surgeon Qi Jin performed a remote operation to eliminate an arrhythmia in a Russian patient in Novosibirsk. The operation was performed using the only Stereotaxis robotic system in the Russian Federation, which allows manipulations in the patient's heart using super-powerful magnets.

According to Alexander Romanov, Deputy Director General of the Meshalkin National Medical Research Center, control of the robotic system was transferred to a doctor in Shanghai at the Rujing Clinic. The operation lasted two hours, and participants from eight countries of the II Siberian Summit on the Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation observed it online.

The robotic system by which the operation was performed is a complex of two large magnets located on the sides of the patient. They moved catheters that eliminated the source of the arrhythmia inside the heart. Special equipment was also used during the operation – a breathing apparatus that can operate near a strong magnetic field and notifies doctors if it is too close to the magnet.
