At the Russian Embassy in China, representatives of the Russian and foreign diplomatic corps, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and the Chinese People's Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries honored the memory of those who died at the hands of the fascist invaders with a minute of silence and the lighting of candles. The action will continue on June 22 at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, where they will hold a memorial evening dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.
Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov recalled that the war unleashed by the Nazis claimed the lives of 27 million citizens of the Soviet Union and brought pain and suffering to all Soviet families. On the Day of Remembrance and Mourning, he called for thinking about the importance of peace on Earth.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry's Special Representative for the Eurasian Region, Li Hui, said it was important to " resolutely resist some world forces that want to review the results of the victory in World War II."
According to him, it is necessary "to fight against any attempts and actions aimed at denying, distorting or falsifying the history of the Second World War...to learn from history, to appreciate the hard-won conditions of peaceful development, to jointly protect peace and stability in the region and around the world."
