The city of Sanya received over 412 thousand tourists over the three days of the weekend on the occasion of the Duanu holiday

The city of Sanya in the southern Chinese province of Hainan over the weekend (June 21-23) on the occasion of the national holiday of Duanu received a total of 412.2 thousand tourists, which is 47.69% higher than the same period last year.

The revenues of the tourist sector of this resort city have also increased over the specified period. The corresponding figure reached 791 million yuan ($109.8 million) - an increase of 62.44% year-on-year.
During the holiday weekend, passenger traffic at Phoenix Airport also reached a record level. Statistics show that the city's airport received 83.2 thousand passengers, which is almost three and a half times more than in the same period last year. Most of the tourists came from cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, as well as from the provinces of Sichuan and Guangdong. For the entire period of the weekend, the airport of Sanya served about 1056 flights, and the total passenger traffic amounted to 159.5 thousand people. The corresponding indicators increased in annual terms by 22.36% and 19.21%.
The most popular among tourists on holidays was water recreation. Search queries for relevant services increased by 80%. In particular, requests for water parks increased by 150%. Yachting, surfing and diving have also attracted a large number of tourists. Many attractions, the newspaper writes, worked on weekends for guests in a free mode.
The share of tourists aged 18 to 35 who visited Sanya during the Duanhu celebration was 40%. They accounted for up to 61% of the total number of customers in the duty-free shops of the city. Statistics also show that the average occupancy rate of high-level hotels in Sanya during this period reached 73%, writes TASS.
