Xi Jinping to attend SCO Summit

Chinese President to pay state visits to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

On September 14-16, China's Xi Jinping will take part in the meeting of the heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, and will also pay state visits to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This was announced on Monday by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"In the period from September 14 to 16, Chinese President Xi Jinping will take part in the 22nd meeting of the heads of SCO member states in Samarkand, as well as at the invitation of the President of Kazakhstan [Kassym-Jomart] Tokayev and the President of Uzbekistan [Shavkat] Mirziyoyeva will visit [these countries] with state visits," the document on the agency's website says.
This will be Xi Jinping's first foreign trip since the beginning of the pandemic. On July 1, he visited Hong Kong on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the transition of the former British enclave under Chinese jurisdiction. The last foreign trip of the Chinese president took place in January 2020, when he paid an official visit to Myanmar.
The SCO summit will be held on September 15-16 in Samarkand, writes TASS.
