The Chinese Armed Forces conducted exercises off the coast of Taiwan

The Chinese armed Forces organized military exercises in the area of Taiwan Island, these measures were taken to "warn the United States," follows from the statement of the Eastern Zone of the Combat Command of the People's Liberation Army of China.

"The other day, the Eastern Zone of the People's Liberation Army Combat Command of China organized joint patrols to ensure combat readiness and military exercises in the sea and airspace around Taiwan Island," the PLA Eastern Zone Command said in a statement on the WeChat social network.
"This is a serious warning in connection with the recent activity between the United States and Taiwan," the statement said.
The document emphasizes that Taiwan is part of the PRC, and the Chinese armed forces have all the capabilities and are determined to prevent interference by external forces and any attempts by separatist forces to organize "Taiwan independence."
US President Joe Biden on Monday, during a joint press conference following the summit with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo, announced the US readiness for military participation in the defense of Taiwan "in case of invasion" and attempts to change its status quo unilaterally.
Later, as reported by NBC, the White House clarified that Biden, speaking of readiness for military participation in the defense of Taiwan, meant the supply of weapons for the self-defense of the island. However, on Tuesday, Biden, answering a question from reporters whether the United States would send military personnel to Taiwan in case of an invasion by China, reiterated that Washington's position on Taiwan has not changed.
Official relations between the central government of the People's Republic of China and its island province were interrupted in 1949, after the Kuomintang forces led by Chiang Kai-shek, who were defeated in the civil war with the Communist Party of China, moved to Taiwan. Business and informal contacts between the island and mainland China resumed in the late 1980s. Since the early 1990s, the parties began to contact through non-governmental organizations – the Beijing Association for the Development of Relations across the Taiwan Strait and the Taipei Cross-Strait Exchange Fund.
Earlier, the island's defense minister Qiu Guozheng said that if a war breaks out between China and Taiwan, regardless of who wins, it will end in tragedy for both sides. He stressed that "no one wants war," RIA Novosti reported.
