The Chinese authorities consider cooperation with the UK as a promising area and are ready to explore the possibility of introducing a unilateral visa-free regime for British citizens. This was stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping at a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the People's Assembly House in Beijing.
According to the Chinese leader, Beijing intends to develop relations with London on the basis of mutual respect and is ready to overcome existing differences for the sake of practical results. Xi Jinping stressed that China and the United Kingdom, as permanent members of the UN Security Council and major economies, should strengthen cooperation against the backdrop of an unstable international situation.
The Chinese President also noted China's interest in expanding cooperation with the UK in the fields of education, healthcare, financial services, scientific research and advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and alternative energy. He expressed hope for the creation of fair working conditions for Chinese businesses in the UK.
