According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian, Beijing supports national airlines in protecting their legitimate rights and interests. According to him, such steps by the United States contradict the principles of equal cooperation and create new barriers to interaction between the two countries.
The diplomat stressed that Washington's restrictions harm not only China, but also the United States itself, undermining mutual trust and economic ties. He also noted that the American public is dissatisfied with measures that could negatively affect the air transportation market and increase ticket prices.
Earlier, several Chinese air carriers sent official protests to the US Department of Transportation against an initiative prohibiting them from using Russian airspace when flying between China and the United States.
