The MEI–Hainan space has opened at the MEI National Research University in Moscow, the university's press service reported. The new site is designed to prepare and coordinate projects with Chinese partners and immerse students in the cultural atmosphere of Hainan Island. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the university, the Chinese Embassy in Russia and Chinese public organizations.
Nikolay Rogalev, Rector of MEI, stressed that the new space reflects the scale of cooperation with China and is connected with the construction of a university branch in Haikou on Hainan Island. The campus of the future university was laid in January 2024. It will train specialists who are in demand in the economies of the two countries, and will also become a base for joint scientific research.
The MEI–Hainan project is included in the Roadmap of Russian-Chinese humanitarian Cooperation until 2030. It is being implemented with the support of the Ministries of Education and Science of the two countries, as well as the administration of Hainan Province. It is expected that the university will strengthen ties in the field of higher education and expand scientific exchange between Russia and China.
